Installing apps with Softaculous

Softaculous is the app installer built into your DirectAdmin control panel. It installs more than 300 open-source apps, such as WordPress, Joomla, Moodle, PrestaShop and Nextcloud, and creates the database for you.

Install an app

1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
2. Open Softaculous. If you do not see it straight away, use the search box in the DirectAdmin menu.
3. Find the app you want, by searching or browsing the categories, and click Install.
4. Choose the domain to install it on. To install on your main address, leave the directory field empty. To install on a subdomain, create the subdomain first.
5. Set the admin username, a strong password and your admin email address.
6. Click Install. When it finishes, Softaculous shows the address of your new site and its admin area.

Keep your apps up to date

Softaculous can tell you when a new version of an installed app is available and upgrade it for you. Take a backup before upgrading, so you can go back if something does not work as expected.
